The Gift of Hearing/Silence

Situation 1:

My grandmother is almost deaf. Normally, I have to raise my voice for her to even hear me. She watches the television with volume almost maxed out. You can hear the t.v. blaring from outside her home. Its actually kind of scary. What to do?

Situation 2:

I love Guitar Hero. I have stepped up to the Hard mode. On the weekends, I crank up the stereo and I rock out. The real sad part is my wife, whom I also love, hates Guitar Hero. What to do?
